Excellent value accommodation in Wimbledon.
Although this accommodation is some way from the centre of town there are compensations: it is excellent value, charming Wimbledon village is close by and lovely Wimbledon Common is virtually on your doorstep.
Using the excellent bus service and tube or rail the bright lights of the centre of London are easily reached in 30/40 minutes. Over the years several well-known tennis stars have stayed here during the Wimbledon Tennis Championships – the courts are within a 30 minute walk.
The property sleeps 6 in three double bedrooms with two bathrooms (one en-suite). Wireless internet is provided.
There is a warm and homely feel in this apartment, owing to the comfortable furnishings and soft tones throughout. As you enter the spacious hallway, you will be welcomed into a light, open-plan living area (19ft2 x 15ft7, 5.9m x 4.8m) which has been decorated with cream carpet and white walls.
The room features various flower- and nautical-themed paintings, alongside several impressive pieces of antique furniture including four carved wooden chairs with a horse motif and a Japanese chest that is simply stunning. There is a 3-seater sofa, two chairs and a separate dining area with a dark wooden table with six chairs.
A TV, DVD player, stereo and video player provide entertainment options. Next to the window there is a door which leads out onto a small balcony – this area catches the sun during the afternoon.
Towards the end of the hallway you will find the kitchen (9ft x 8ft8, 2.7m x 2.6m), which is classic in style with white tiled walls and white cupboards. There is everything you will need in here: oven, gas hob, fridge-freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and a small fold-down table with four stools.
The spacious master bedroom (13ft1 x 12ft1, 3.9m x 3.7m) is a few doors along. It features a large super-king size bed (6ft6 x 6ft), two wooden chests of drawers, two bedside tables with lamps and fitted wardrobes for your belongings. This classic style room also has an en-suite bathroom with a bath with over-shower, basin and loo.
The next room is a double bedroom (12ft8 x 9ft8, 3.9m x 3m) which has a similar style with white walls, cream carpet and pastel tones. There is a fitted wardrobe, queen size bed (6ft8 x 5ft) two bedside cabinets with lamps and two sets of drawers. Oriental art work brings character to this space.
The third bedroom (11ft9 x 10ft, 3.6m x 2.8m) has been decorated in a classic style and features a work desk and chair, bed (5ft10 x 4ft1), set of drawers, two bedside tables with lamps and a separate chair.
The second bathroom is modern in style with tiled walls and soft grey tones – there is a free-standing shower, basin and loo.
Wimbledon is a very popular (and expensive!) residential area and has a lot to offer apart from its famous tennis courts. A 10 minute walk will take you to Wimbledon village with excellent shops, a small supermarket and some good restaurants – Cafe Rouge, Côte, The Butcher & Grill are all worth trying.
The great open spaces of Wimbledon Common are reached in a 5 minute walk, great for walking, cycling and jogging. And after your exercise refresh yourself at one of the local pubs by the common: The Crooked Billet, The Hand in Hand or The Fox and Grapes.
To get into town, catch the number 200 bus (every 7/10 minutes) from the stop virtually outside your door. This takes you, via Wimbledon village, to Wimbledon tube (District line) and railway station – direct trains to Vauxhall where you connect to the Victoria tube line and Waterloo connecting with the Northern, Jubilee and Bakerloo lines; the journey takes 30/40 minutes.
