This comfortable convenient apartment in the heart of South Kensington is on the first floor (no lift) of a typical grand London house. It overlooks Wetherby Gardens, a large and well kept private garden with an entrance right by your front door – to which you have access; this is a real bonus in London. Gloucester Road tube station (District, Circle and Piccadilly lines – tube direct from Heathrow) is just 5 minutes walk and you are just off The Old Brompton Road with its numerous excellent watering holes.
The flat sleeps 4 in two double bedrooms. If required the second bedroom can be used just for one person with the other sleeping on a futon-style mattress on the mezzanine balcony. There are two full bathrooms.
The flat has recently had a complete makeover and is chic and contemporary. The main living room, (21ft6 x 20ft, 6.5m x 6.1m) combines living, dining and kitchen. Its four bay windows that view directly onto Wetherby Gardens make this a lovely, light, bright room – you could easily imagine that you’re in the country . The living area has a comfortable leather sofa, easy chair with foot-stool and two contemporary wicker chairs arranged round a small coffee table in front of a fine fire place (not functioning). There’s a small TV with standard Freeview channels and wifi internet router.
The split, circular dining table seats 4 and can be extended to 6 with the addition of a centre piece. The fully equipped kitchen is chic and modern with hide-away cupboards, there’s a washer/dryer and a dish washer.
The bedrooms are plain but comfortable. The first double bedroom (11ft6 x 10ft6, 3.5m x 3.2m) has a double bed (4ft6 x 6ft3, 1.4m x 1.9m) with large built-in storage cupboards on one wall. Its ensuite bathroom has bath + over-shower, basin and loo. The second double bedroom (8ft6 x 8ft6, 2.6m x 2.6m) has a small double bed (4ft3 x 6ft3, 1.3m x 1.9m); there’s no wardrobe storage. The second bathroom has a shower, basin and loo.
Stairs lead to a mezzanine balcony (13ft x 6ft, 3.9m x 1.8m) overlooking the main living area. With a futon-style mattress, this can be used as a sleeping area if required. There’s also space to put suitcases and shelves for unpacking..
Harrington Gardens is a 3 minutes walk from The Old Brompton Road with its many pubs, restaurants, cafés etc. Your local pub is The Drayton Arms – a Pub and a Theatre.Drop into The Troubadour, a wonderful old bohemian café/bar and a hang out of Bob Dylan and Jimmy Hendrix in the 60s, and catch some music. Experience London as a Londoner.
