Ebury Street (Ref: EBY)
Classic-style Belgravia apartment.
This flat is “typically English” in decoration and presentation. It is the owner’s home (she’s an author specialising in the British Royal Family) so there are many books, family photos and other possessions, but she does make room for her guests (you!) to enjoy the accommodation when you stay. It has two double bedrooms and two bathrooms, sleeping 3 comfortably, 4 at a push – the bed in the guest bedroom can only be accessed from one side.
This apartment has an excellent position on Ebury Street – which runs from close to Victoria Station down through to Chelsea. Buckingham Palace is located near the top end of the street, 5 minutes from Victoria Station (main line station and tube District, Circle and Victoria lines), whereas the lower end boasts Sloane Square and The King’s Road – both renowned shopping areas – you can’t beat this for a central location! The flat is set on two floors (the 2nd and 3rd – no lift). Broadband wifi internet access is provided.
Stairs from the main hallway leads past a half-landing with the first bathroom, which has a separate shower, basin and loo.
On the first floor is the living/dining room and the kitchen.
The kitchen (10ft1 x 4ft5, 3.1m x 1.4m) provides all the usual expected appliances: electric oven with gas hob, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, microwave, kettle and a toaster. The room has been fitted with wooden work surfaces and modern steel-toned cabinets.
The living room (21ft9 x 18ft, 6.7m x 5.5m) features an eclectic mix of furniture that effortlessly blends together to create a room with bags of character.
The canary yellow walls add a colourful element to the room – as does the unusual tiger print chair! The large open fireplace is a nice traditional feature, along with the grand portraits on the wall and the bookshelves stocked with a fascinating assortment of literature about the royals (the owner has written several books on the subject).
There are 2 two-seater sofas, a contemporary glass coffee table, flat-screen TV with digital channels, stereo and a little alcove with a dining table and four chairs – it would be difficult not to feel at home here.
Upstairs are the two bedrooms and the second bathroom.
The master bedroom (15ft9 x 8ft10, 4.8m x 2.7m) has impressive high ceilings and original wooden beams. It has a country feel with floral curtains, wooden floor, handsome wooden drawers and a nice selection of framed artwork. There is also a flat-screen TV and a king size bed (5ft x 6ft6).
Next door there is a dressing room (12ft4 x 4ft5, 3.8m x 1.4m) which has been decorated in the same style – here guests will find wall-to-wall fitted wardrobes, a chair and a dressing table with mirror.
The guest room (15ft9 x 7ft3, 4.8m x 2.2m) has a double bed (4ft6 x 6ft3), bedside table and lamp – the room continues the ‘country’ feel with floral bedding and curtains. Please note – this bed can only be accessed from one side.
The second bathroom has been decorated with classical pink wallpaper and gilt-framed mirrors. There is a bath with over-shower, loo and basin.
The property is in a great location with Buckingham Palace and Green Park located at the top end of the road – within easy walking distance.
The Saatchi Gallery at Sloane Square offers free entry and a displays prominent contemporary art from around the world. The King’s Road with its designer shops, fine restaurants and trendy bars and clubs is located at the lower end of the street and can also be easily reached on foot.
There are excellent transport links in the area – including buses, overland trains and tubes – Victoria Station is a short walk from the house and the Victoria tube line will take you into the heart of the West End in under 10 minutes.
7 nights or more £210 per night – minimum stay 7 nights.
