The 2015 Rugby World Cup is currently being hosted by England from 18th September to 31st October. As in the previous tournament four years ago, 20 countries are participating in 4 pools consisting of 5 teams, which play each other. The top 2 teams from each pool then progress to the knock-out stages of quarter finals, semi finals and final: details.
The ‘Home of Rugby’ Twickenham Stadium in South West London will host the final on Saturday 31st October. The pool matches are being played at 12 venues in England including Twickenham, Wembley and the Olympic Stadium in London and as a special concession, The Millenium Stadium in Cardiff (Wales is not the host country).
This is the eigthth quadrennial rugby union world championship and it is already being hailed as the most successful tournement to date. At this early stage the most sensational result has been the defeat of one of the strongest rugby playing nations South Africa by Japan.
