Westmoreland Terrace (Ref: WML)

4 bedrooms 3 bathrooms 8 guests

Many who live in SW1 firmly declare that they would never dream of living elsewhere! The area includes smart Belgravia, trendy Pimlico and stately Westminster – the seat of Government. This large house in Pimlico is excellent value for the larger party. Victoria (main line station and tube Victoria, District and Circle lines) and Sloane Square (tube District and Circle lines) are both about a 10 minute walk, as is lovely Battersea Park – just across Chelsea Bridge on the south side of the river.

The house sleeps a maximum of 8 people in 2 double rooms and 2 twin rooms with 3 bathrooms. Wireless internet access is provided. A glance at the map shows a Train Depot worryingly close, but please rest assured it is only used for cleaning trains and there are two rows of house between it and the house, so there is no noise of trains to disturb your piece and quiet.

As you enter the house you will encounter the good-sized open-plan drawing/dining room (26ft6 x 9ft6, 8.1m x 2.9m). You’ll find traditional features throughout: real wooden floorboards, a fine marble fireplace with a modern working fire, bookshelves stacked with books and colourful paintings on the walls – this property has plenty of unique character which is what one might expect from having an architect owner!

There are two 2-seater sofas, two chairs and a sleek modern coffee table positioned in front of a flat-screen TV with Freeview channels and a DVD player for your entertainment. As you walk to the far end of the room you will find two elegant Roman columns leading to a raised dining area with a table and six chairs.

The modern pale-blue kitchen (10ft x 6ft4, 3m x 1.9m) is next to the dining area and although small, features everything you will need including an oven with gas hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, kettle and toaster. The washing machine and dryer are both located downstairs in the basement utility room.

Upstairs on the first floor you will find a private terrace with a paved floor and modern furniture – here there is a table and four chairs and also a BBQ for balmy summer nights!

The master bedroom (13ft7 x 13ft1, 4.1m x 3.9m) is also situated on this floor. This large room has cream-toned walls with a colourful abstract painting acting as a centrepiece above the king-size bed (6ft6 x 5ft). Dark wooden furniture, fitted wardrobes and bookshelves with books complete the look and give the room a comfortable home-from-home feel. A door from this room leads to the en-suite bathroom, modern with tiled floor, beautiful claw-footed bathtub, free-standing rain-shower, double basins and a loo.

On the second (top) floor you’ll find another double room (13ft9 x 13ft3, 4.2m x 4m) which is almost identical to the master bedroom in style – with a statement painting above the stunning, wood-framed king size bed (6ft6 x 5ft) – fitted wardrobes, two chairs and a wooden dresser. The bedroom door connects this room to a modern bathroom with free-standing shower and basin. There is a separate loo located next door.

A twin-room (10ft11 x 8ft, 3.1m x 2.4m) is also located on this floor and shares the same bathroom, via its own connecting door, as the double – both connecting doors have locks so you will have privacy in both bedrooms and the bathroom! The twin bedroom features two single beds (6ft x 3ft) in a bright room with wardrobe and bookshelves stacked with classic children’s books – great for children or adults sharing.

The fourth bedroom (13ft6 x 12ft8, 4.1m x 3.9m) is on the lower ground floor (sorry no photo). This room has a set of wardrobes and two single beds (6ft x 3ft). In this room you’ll find a door which leads outside onto a secret little area with an alcove and two chairs – very unusual!

Also on this floor is the third bathroom with free-standing shower, large basin and loo. The utility room and storage room with an extra fridge-freezer is also located in on this floor.

The flat is within 10 minutes walk of several convenience stores, pharmacies, an excellent supermarket and a number of buzzy bars and restaurants; at Gran Paradiso on Wilton Road you might well spot an MP dining before returning to the House of Commons to vote. Westminster Abby, The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben are about a 20 minutes walk.

Are you into serious antiques? In Pimlico Road (5 minutes walk) you will find over 30 fine antique and carpet shops, and in Orange Square, half way along Pimlico Road, you’ll find Mozart Terrace and the house where he wrote his earliest compositions at the age of 7. Opposite that is La Poule au Pot, claimed by some to be one of London’s most romantic restaurants!
